Tooting Nub News has been going from strength to strength since its launch and I'd like to thank you for all of your support so far.
I am extremely grateful to be able to write and tell the stories of this wonderful area.
As we continue to grow, Tooting Nub News will stay writing about things that matter to us as a community.
As we embark on this exciting week ahead - let's take a look back at some of the top articles from the past week.
Wandsworth Council extends free school meals plan to cover Christmas and Spring holidays
The families of children eligible for free school meals from the council are set to receive supermarket food vouchers to cover both the Christmas holiday and the February half term break.
Councillors will next week be asked to endorse plans to provide a Covid-19 food support package so that children from low income families don't go hungry when away from school in December and February.
Tooting and Balham residents continue to support lockdown dumpling business
Tooting and Balham residents are continuing to enjoy a dumpling delivery service that was created over lockdown.
Hao Hao Chi began as a food stall in 2015 and set up their permanent home at Peckham Levels in 2017.
The food stall made a name for itself by regularly attending Balham Food Festival, Northcote Road Christmas Market and more.
Unfortunately, due to coronavirus restrictions the Peckham-based market closed and Hao Hao Chi had to rethink their strategy.
The business now offers frozen premium dumpling delivery across South West and South East London.
Up Close in Tooting: The photographer wanting to put Tooting and Furzedown on the map
Tooting Nub News aims to support our community, promoting shops, businesses, charities, clubs and sports groups.
We will be profiling some of these businesses and organisations regularly in a feature called "Up Close in Tooting."
Today we caught up with Amy Adams, the Furzedown photographer creating a brand new photo book called 'Wild About Tooting & Furzedown'.
Tooting Ward Police increase patrols following claims of suspicious man in Tooting Common
Tooting Ward Police yesterday announced they would be upping their patrols following multiple reports of a male acting suspiciously in Tooting Common.
Nub News previously reported on a claim of sexual assault and sexual harassment in Tooting Common.
The police have asked that anyone with any information to contact them directly or call 101.
Bedford Ward Police have also confirmed they will be increasing their patrols in light of the reports.
The team are urging people to come forward and report the claims directly to them - as they are concerned that they are missing many of the claims made on social media channels.
The converted double decker bus determined to beat poverty in Tooting and beyond
A converted double decker bus bringing affordable, fresh food to chronically underserved areas will soon be in Tooting a couple of days a week.
The Food Bus, which will have its base outside All Saint's Church a couple of days a week, will contain an on-board shop and café, and stop at four different locations each week, with the aim of improving residents' access to healthy food and easing at least some of the pressure on household budgets.
A regular shopping basket of goods will also be available to buy at a fraction of its usual cost, with much of the food being sourced responsibly from retailers' surplus stocks.
Thousands raised for 94-year-old Earlsfield woman after tragic fire destroys home
In an amazing show of community spirit and togetherness, the community has rallied together to raise over £5000 for a 94-year-old woman whose flat was destroyed by a fire in the early hours of Monday morning (23rd November).
The woman, known to loved ones as 'Bubbles', was taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation and minor burns.
The flat has been her home for over 70 years and the fire has left it uninhabitable.
School in Tooting is fundraising to provide every student with a laptop
A secondary school in Tooting has started a fundraiser to provide every child in their care with a laptop.
FEBS (Friends of Ernest Bevin School) want to raise money to provide laptops so that children can continue their work independently should they have to self-isolate.
The school also feels that having a laptop will help disadvantaged children to catch up on missed education and not fall behind.
The school says that forty percent of their pupils apply for 'Pupil Premium', the Government's measure to identify children most in need of support.
Tooting Market bans the sale of takeaway alcohol following weekend lockdown breach
Tooting Market were forced to take drastic measures this weekend to deter groups of people gathering outside the establishment.
Residents noticed that there were a large number of people gathering outside the back of the market on Friday evening.
The Market says they banned the sale of takeaway alcohol from all of its traders as soon as they were made aware of the situation.
Hunt for man after sex attack on Northern Line between Elephant and Castle and Balham
The British Transport Police have released a CCTV image in connection with a sex attack on the Northern Line earlier this year.
The sexual assault took place between Elephant and Castle and Balham, where the victim and assaulter disembarked.
Tooting Market announces full reopening once lockdown is lifted
The market has been celebrating that its retailers, tailors, hair and beauty venues and gym can reopen fully again.
Food vendors will also be back to allowing dine-in experiences in their restaurant space.
