Tooting is once again open for businesses as lockdown eases.
Our area has fully reawakened after three long lockdowns in 13 months - and our renowned independent shops and businesses are welcoming people back.
The pandemic has had a huge impact on shops, pubs and restaurants - and now residents are looking to Shop Safe and Shop Local.
Here are ten ways to boost our town and stay safe.
1) Make a pledge to support local businesses throughout 2021
2) Take a lateral flow test before shopping in town.
3) Give yourself a treat and dine outside in a local pub, café or restaurant
4) When shopping for essential goods and services abide by the physical distancing signage – remember to keep two metres
5) In-store wear a face covering at all times
6) Wash your hands and use hand sanitisers if shopping for essential goods
7) Handle as few things as possible, only pick-up what you want to buy
8) When you're making a purchase use a card and don't forget to bring your own bag
9) Avoid crowds and if there's a queue, call back later
10) Remember if you have any Covid symptoms you must self-isolate
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Jane Connors, the Met's lead for Covid-19 response, said: "The Met is ready to welcome back people to the streets of London.
"We will be stepping up our patrols to busy high footfall areas, to look out for everyone's safety and to disrupt any criminal activity.
"Of course, where we need to take action against those who dangerously flout the rules we will do. While the case rate has declined in London, we have seen the concerning position in northern Europe. It is important that we all stick to the rules so further lockdowns, or restrictions, are avoided."
As part of the easing of restrictions, the Met will continue a well-established partnership with Wandsworth Council to enforce breaches of the regulations within licensed premises.
DAC Connors added: "As the shutters open once again on London's high streets and across London's hospitality sector, I know the overwhelming majority of business owners will act responsibly.
"Businesses have been hit hard by this pandemic but it is important everyone plays their part in driving down the infection rate further.
"Our joint patrols with councils will continue and if we see unnecessary risks being taken, we will engage, explain the regulations and if needed take action."
