Popular Tooting pub to offer takeaway service for first time on Christmas Eve

By The Editor 23rd Dec 2020

A beloved Tooting pub will be offering a takeaway service for the first time ever on Christmas Eve.

The Ramble Inn, which sits on Mitcham Road, has announced that the one time takeaway service will run from 4pm - 8pm on 24th December.

All pints will be £4 and the pub is asking residents to bring their own container.

The Ramble Inn during coronavirus

Throughout this tumultuous year, The Ramble Inn has had to adjust to constantly changing tiers and rules.

The pub didn't offer takeaway in the previous lockdowns and instead waited until they could open safely.

It was only the beginning of the month The Ramble Inn bought new fridges and other equipment to make sure they were able to provide an acceptable level of food.

The pub provided jacket potatoes, pies and more for just three pound - not wanting to charge customers too much in an economically worrying time.

James (Jimmy) Crowe, landlord of the freehold Ramble Inn pub, previously told Nub News: "We're conscious that money is tight for everyone at the moment."

A historic establishment

The Ramble Inn recently celebrated its 22nd birthday.

The pub was first owned by James' dad and it's stayed in the family ever since.

James previously told Nub News: "When we are serving Tooting residents we always know someone they know and we can tell people about the history of Tooting.

"In twenty years we have seen so many pubs change hands and so many managers - it's very important to have good staff and look after them."

The pub was recently called called the 'definition of community' by Labour MP Dr Rosena Khan.
