Tooting Market halts showing of Euros with immediate effect

Tooting Market will no longer be showing the Euro Championship matches on its big screen.

With two semi-finals and a final left in the competition, the market has made the call to stop showing any more matches, despite having them on for the earlier stages of the tournament.

Nevertheless, everything else will still be open as usual - it just might be a bit more peaceful than if the football was kicking off.

A Tooting Market post on Instagram said: "Hello Tooting, please note that from today we will not be screening any further Euros matches on our big screen at the market.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this causes to your plans for tomorrow night and hope you enjoy the game wherever you watch it.

"All our amazing restaurants, retailers and hair and beauty venues remain open as usual."

With space limited in the market for masses of people to watch a football game, perhaps this shouldn't come as a huge shock, especially given the increase in coronavirus cases in recent weeks.

Some videos from Saturday night showed joyous scenes as England defeated Ukraine 4-0.
