Tooting: Man arrested as woman in twenties rushed to hospital following crash near Broadway station

A woman in her twenties was taken to hospital following a collision on Tooting High Street.

A crash involving a car and a pedestrian temporarily shut the road in both directions at around 4.30pm on Tuesday (November 9) before it was reopened at around 9pm.

Both police and ambulance services arrived at the scene. The woman was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service straight away and there is still yet to be an update on her condition.

A man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and he is currently in custody.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16:20hrs on Tuesday, 9 November to reports of collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Tooting High Street

"Officers and London Ambulance Service [LAS] attended.

"The pedestrian, a woman believed to be in her twenties, was taken to hospital by LAS and we await an update on her condition.

"A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property. He remains in police custody.

"A number of roads are closed in the area.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident or has footage should call police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 5095/9NOV."
