Tooting Broadway railway station and surrounding roads temporarily closed this afternoon (June 22) due to a police incident.

Wandsworth Police confirmed that this was due to a man having a laceration on his arm, which is believed to be self-inflicted.

Police cars and ambulances could be seen outside the station.

The incident was first reported at 3.32pm and the roads and train station have now reopened.

Tooting MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan tweeted about the situation, describing it as a "serious incident."

She said: "I am liaising with the police for a fuller picture of events and will provide an update as soon as possible."

A tweet from Wandsworth Police said: "Police were called at 15:32hrs to Tooting Broadway LU Station after a man was found with a laceration to his arm. This is believed to be self-inflicted.

"Road closures have been lifted and the station has re-opened."
