There will be no entry to Balham Tube Station during the morning rush hour on Mondays to Fridays starting from next week.
From Monday June 28 you will only be able to exit at the station from the times between 7.30am and 9.30am due to planned escalator works, Transport for London have announced.
This will be the case until late December 2021 as there will be no down escalator to the platforms throughout the work. This means that when the entrance to the station is not shut, you will have to take the stairs to the platform.
TFL has asked its commuters to walk or take the bus to Tooting Bec or Clapham South during the times previously mentioned, or at any other time if you are carrying luggage or a buggy.
The overground will not be affected.
A spokesperson for TFL said: "From Monday 28 June until late December 2021, there will be no entry to Balham station on Mondays to Fridays between 07:30 and 09:30. This is due to planned escalator works.
"Please walk to or take bus 155, 249 or 355 to nearby Clapham South or Tooting Bec stations during the hours stated above, and if you are travelling with luggage or buggies.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for continuing to wear a face covering when using public transport, washing or sanitising your hands before and after travel, and travelling at quieter times where possible."
