Now that the dust has settled on the English Channel swim by four women from the South London Swimming Club, they have now shown some more pictures of their journey.
Lisa Peake, Lorraine Jeffcoate, Vanessa Cowie and Sue Rentoul, dubbed as the 'Channel Crackers', all completed a relay swim of the English Channel last Thursday (July 22).
They set off from Dover at 8.30pm on Wednesday evening and ended up on Wissant Bay just after noon on Thursday.
The women managed to raise over £11,000 and counting, smashing their target of £6,000.
And now they have shared more photos from their swim which shows both the enduring nature of the trip as well as the strong team spirit they have between them. Flick through the gallery at the top to see some of the pictures.
Speaking to Tooting Nub News , Lisa shared a bit more about the experience.
She said: "Yes we got nervous, especially before our first swims.
"Some swims were harder than others and we had to contend with everything the sea threw at us.
"But the weather was glorious, our team fantastic, the crew so helpful and the support at home was phenomenal.
"We swam night and day, encountering choppy seas, strong currents, swallowing seawater, and jellyfish stings, and raising over £10,000 for charity.
"We wouldn't change a single minute."
The channel is a distance of 21 miles, however, with the tides it can be almost twice that amount. As it is a relay, each swimmer goes for an hour before swapping with another member who was in the boat which ran alongside the swim. The swimmer cannot touch the boat or another team member while they are in the water.
The team are doing the swim on behalf of three charities - all of which have a personal link to the group: Mind UK, Diabetes UK and the National Brain Appeal's Rare Dementia Support Centre Fund.
The ladies have now passed £11,000 - but it would mean the world to them if they could keep the tally rising.
