Tomorrow (Thursday 8th October), Extinction Rebellion Wandsworth are due to stage a protest at Tooting Broadway for 'Clean Air Day'.

The activist group will be heading in to the road between 8am and 9am to protest the emissions caused from the A24.

Referred to as a 'Green Man Swarm', the protesters will be carrying banners and handing out leaflets, but say that no traffic will be stopped.

Ben Mango, local resident and Extinction Rebellion member, said:

"During the COVID-19 lockdown we experienced cleaner air and saw massive shifts to low pollution behaviours.

"Let's keep up the momentum and keep our air clean."

What is Clean Air Day?

Clean Air Day is the country's largest air pollution campaign.

It usually takes place on the third Thursday of June but was pushed back until tomorrow due to coronavirus restrictions.

Last year the campaign reportedly generated more than 2000 media items, and 45,000 social media posts.
