Earlsfield residents have been speaking out about a new LED advertising billboard on Aslett Street.
The billboard, installed by Clear Channel, has reportedly been disrupting oncoming traffic and causing discomfort for nearby households.
A petition has been started to take down the billboard.
The petition reads: "The luminance levels are breaking advertising guidelines, are dangerous to oncoming traffic and its size and brightness is not conducive to a residential area.
"It illuminates much of the street and surrounding homes impacting normal domestic living."
In the planning application passed in 2019 it states that 'no advertisement shall be sited or displayed so as to obscure or hinder the ready interpretation of road traffic signs, railway signals'.
It also states that the maximum steady brightness of the fascia sign is to not exceed 300 calendas per square metre.
Earlsfield resident Andrew Mac told Nub News: "Clear Channel U.K. have contravened their planning consent for this hoarding and are having a significant adverse impact on the quality of life for residents."
Responding to the petition, resident Alexander Gatton, said:
"This is the most ludicrous bit of pointless advertising I have seen, it's so bright it must be faulty, it shines right into my window and I live on Furmage Street.
"Plus who is paying any attention to the adverts, it's placed on a side road catching limited impressions with the amount of traffic going past at night."
The petition has so far been signed over 120 times with more than 60 comments.
Nub News has contacted Clear Channel for comment.
