During the first national lockdown it became a tradition to Clap for Carers at 8pm every Thursday.

Now as we enter a new national lockdown - set to last until mid-February - the clap is being brought back in Tooting and the rest of the country.

The scenes of people banging pots and making as much noise as they can to show their support will now be to recognise all frontline workers.

"We are bringing back the 8pm applause, in our 3rd lockdown I hope it can lift the spirit, of all of us," said the original Clap for Carers creator Annemarie Plas.

"Carers, teachers, homeschooling parents, those who shield and ALL who are pushing through this difficult time! Please join & share!"

The clap starts once again at 8pm this evening (7 Jan).
