'A tranquil escape': The new Tooting cafe that aims to make you feel at peace

A new plant-based cafe and garden centre has opened in the heart of Tooting.

The Plant Cafe, situated on Gatton Road, features a wide-array of plants, food and drink for sale - as well as a children's play area.

Owners Arnau and Armando have had years of experience in hospitality and are passionate about delivering something 'truly unique' for Tooting.

The cafe will be launching properly on January 18 and will obviously only operate as a take-away service in current lockdown restrictions.

You can expect to see constant special events from the cafe once they launch - we'll keep you posted on these.

A tranquil escape

The Plant Cafe is framed to be an escape from outside life.

Upon entry you're instantly surrounded by nature which is an unexpected setting for your average Tooting establishment.

The plants are there to be browsed and experienced, set out in a way to make the customer feel detached from life outside.

With low-set jazz music playing in the background it's hard to not get lost in the atmosphere of the place.

Co-owner Arnau told Nub News: "We want this to be more than just a place where people have coffee and food.

"This is an escape from life, we want people to feel at peace."

Plant-based drink and food to give the body a boost

The Plant Cafe is passionate about serving plant-based food and drink that is 'as delicious as it is nutritious'.

The cafe will be offering a range of original plant-based sandwiches, pastries and drinks.

The owners hope they will be able to shed light on the importance of incorporating more plant-based food into daily life.

A special beetroot latte is just one of the signature drinks that people can expect to see on the menu.

The Plant Cafe will still offer vegetarian options as to not punish people who may want regular milk, cheese and eggs.

Plants, plants and plants

The plant range will be available for home delivery and click and collect - customers will also be able to purchase in-store once restrictions allow it.

Taking pride in their selection, the cafe says they are passionate about providing high-quality gardening essentials and plants at competitive prices.

A children's play area

While the rather large play-area is obviously out of use for the time being, The Plant Cafe has future plans for offering their unique space for events.

Taking up about a quarter of the cafe, the elaborate children's playground is decked out with fun for little ones to enjoy.

Co-owner Arnau said: "We won't be running the play-area at the same time as the cafe.

"The focus will be on setting a peaceful atmosphere.

"We think that this space will be great for a range of events and it's something that is truly unique to the area."
