TOOTING FOOD REVIEW: Mamma Dough

By The Editor

16th Nov 2020 | Local News

Mamma Dough has everything you want from a pizzeria. Wonderful sourdough pizzas, excellent service and enough choice to keep you coming back to discover something new.

Situated on Balham High Road just past Tooting Bec Station is Mamma Dough's seventh branch of pizzeria.

The slick exterior will likely grab your attention and if that doesn't the giant 'PIZZA' spelt out with empty pizza boxes definitely will.

All of the pizzas are made with a sourdough base, and while this is just my opinion, I strongly believe that it has a nicer taste than a usual yeast base.

It's flavoursome and light but remains substantial enough to have a decent crunch and feel.

We ordered three pizzas; The Devil, The Mischievous and The Hot Lady.

  • As a lover of spice 'The Devil' hit all the right spots and provided an exciting, properly spicy, experience in every bite.
  • 'The Mischievous' was a little bit more traditional. No spiciness to be seen here. Managing to get a bite with artichokes, ham and olives all at once was something special.
  • 'The Hot Lady' was the same energy as 'The Devil' but 'Nduja had been swapped out for Salami Calabrese with red peppers thrown into the mix. Again, wonderful.

Feeling completely greedy that day, the tiramisu was also ordered.

You can sometimes find that eateries don't take as much pride in their desserts. They can feel tacked on just to get something sweet on the roster.

I am happy to report that this isn't the case at Mamma Dough and the tiramisu was top tier. I would literally eat it ten times over.

There's no better feeling than digging your spoon into the silky cream and down through the coffee soaked biscuits (which were not at all soggy).

You should definitely check out Mamma Dough if you haven't already.

Their click and collect system works faultlessly and is fully covid secure. Plus they're on Deliveroo, so getting the food is completely hassle free.

The perfect lockdown treat.
