Police have cordoned off a small area of Wandsworth today (July 16) as floods streamed down Wandsworth High Street.

Large amounts of muddy water could be seen flowing down past Wandsworth Town Hall in what looked to be some sort of leak.

As you can see from the videos and pictures, police and Thames Water vehicles were on the scene trying to deal with the large quantities of water.

A statement from the Met Police has confirmed that it is nothing serious is now a job for Thames Water.

A local resident, Olivia Brett, claims that the smell is 'horrible' and that she was told by a policewoman that sewage drains were overflowing near the Brewers Inn Hotel.

She said: "There is a really fast current and it's bubbling outside the drains.

"It smells horrible. TFL and police are on the scene.

"The policewoman said that the sewage drains were overflowing near the Brewers Inn Hotel.

"Police have cornered off parts of the crossing and there's major traffic."

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Just spoken with the controller, nothing especially critical.

"Thames Water are on scene."

Thames Water has been contacted for comment.
