Tooting Photo of the Week: Our deep and rich common

By Tommy Joyce

17th Jul 2021 | Local News

It may be a scorching Saturday in Tooting today, but our Photo of the Week this time around is appreciating how green our common is.

Check out this great photo from @thetootingcommon, otherwise known as Vicky.

Vicky's Instagram page is dedicated to taking a photo every day of Tooting Common. We definitely recommend checking out her page as you can flicker through and see our wonderful common change throughout each season.

And while there may be some sunnier days on her page recently, we loved the caption on this particular photo, which pointed out just how dark and lush the grass was for this time of the year.

Vicky said in the caption: "Anyone notice how dark the greens on the common feel in places? So deep and glorious, it's rare the grass is this green in the middle of July. Enjoy"

Within the bio of @thetootingcommon is a link to a petition to try and save water vole from extinction in Wandsworth and Richmond. If you would like to read more or sign the petition, you can go to its change.org page.

Thanks so much for letting us use your photo, Vicky. Well worth a follow.
