Tooting: Woman, 60, suffers life-changing injuries in serious assault
A 60-year-old woman has suffered life changing injuries following a serious assault in Tooting yesterday.
Police were called to Garratt Lane at 2:11am on Thursday (December 9) and found the woman with head injuries.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
A 47-year-old man was located nearby and arrested for Attempted Rape and Grievous Bodily harm.
Today (December 10), Yaw Donkor was charged with Attempted Rape, Grievous Bodily Harm, Kidnap and Robbery.
Donkor, of no fixed abode, has been remanded to Wimbledon Magistrate's Court.
Crime scenes in place on Mapleton Road, the Entrance to King George's Park and The Old Sergeant Bus Stop have been closed.
A spokesperson for Wandsworth Police said: "On 10 December, Yaw Donkor, 47 (D.O.B: 10/05/1974), of no fixed abode, was charged with Attempted Rape, Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), Kidnap and Robbery and remanded to attend Wimbledon Magistrate's Court Today (10 December)."
"This follows an investigation by police into a serious assault that took place on Garratt Lane, SW18.
"The woman's injuries have been confirmed as life changing.
"The Crime Scenes have since been closed."
