A Tooting restaurant has teamed up with Tooting Community Kitchen to feed the homeless once a week.

Meat and Shake, situated on Upper Tooting Road, will be providing a hot meal of their signature burger, chips and a drink every Tuesday.

This works alongside Tooting Community Kitchen's hot meal and food stands every Wednesday and Saturday.

With the help of volunteers the restaurant fed sixteen people free meals last night (30th November).

The manager of Meat and Shake, Usama Siddique, says he is passionate about helping the community in every way he can.

The Tooting restaurant provided over 1000 free meals to school children over the half term break.

Usama previously told Nub News:

"I am humbled and privileged to be in a position to put something back into the community.

"As a business, we are under moral obligation to stretch our hand to those who fall into these traps.

"I have been in a habit of speaking to homeless individuals, in the street over the years and many times came across heartbreaking stories.

"Mostly, homelessness is an outcome of broken homes, parents with drug addiction, alcoholism, domestics violence or child abuse.

"Once a child is on the street then there is no Teflon. Society is the only Teflon and must play its part."

Meals will be served to people who have the Tooting Community Kitchen leaflet, which can be collected on Saturday at 6pm outside Iceland.
