Friday afternoon (25th) residents walked a mile around Tooting Common in order to show solidarity with Greta Thunberg's FridaysForFuture movement.

Organised by passionate parents Richard Couldrey and Sophia Parker, #walkamileforclimate encouraged discussion and education about climate change and the effect it plays on our lives.

The event was set up and promoted just three days before on social media.

"We really didn't know how many people would turn up," Sophia told Nub News.

"You just put these things out there and you're never fully sure how many people it will reach."

The event was made especially child friendly and even featured a hand made wooly mammoth.

Many attendees sported placards with climate change messages.

Since the event, residents have shared positive stories of climate change action in the community through #FFFTooting on Twitter.
