Labour councillor Hannah Stanislaus has resigned from the party due to alleged bullying.

The Bedford ward councillor, who will now serve as an 'independent', says they and their mental health was attacked in a 67-paged Whip's report.

Wandsworth Labour and Leonie Cooper have denied the claims.

After being voted to represent the party in May, Stanislaus announced this morning that they had sent a resignation to the Labour Party. Stanislaus is no longer on the Wandsworth Labour website in the councillor section.

In a statement to Tooting Nub News , Stanislaus said that they cannot continue in a party that 'promotes bullying'.

They said: "I am free of the constraints of a party.

"I quit due to being bullied by the leadership of Wandsworth Labour.

"A 67 page Whip's report, which attacked me personally and the last 5 years of my life and my mental health. I cannot continue in a party that promotes bullying and toxicity as a culture."

In a tweet, Stanislaus accused the Wandsworth Labour leader, Leonie Cooper, of bullying them, and also enabling the party's organiser, Chloe Ingram to verbally abuse them.

Leonie Cooper response

Leonie Cooper, councillor for Furzedown, has denied the claims made by Stanislaus about the party.

She said: "These allegations are wholly untrue. Wandsworth Labour does not operate in this way, or treat one another like this. To suggest otherwise is extremely hurtful."
