Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop on Mitcham Lane in Tooting in the early hours of this morning (Monday, December 6).

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 2:04am, fire crews from Tooting, West Norwood and Mitcham fire stations who attended the scene had the fire under control by 3:54am.

A man and a woman left a flat above the shop before firefighters arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

Most of the ground floor of the Tooting shop was left damaged by fire, the cause of which is believed to have been electrical.
