Tooting Community Kitchen to appear on local team's kit after winning Twitter competition

By Tommy Joyce 26th Aug 2021

Tooting Bec FC will be featuring Tooting Community Kitchen on their football kit this season after it won a Twitter competition.

Bec announced yesterday that they would be putting a local charity on the front of their shirt for the 21/22 season, and did a competition to decide which charity it would be.

The Twitter account did a poll with two semi-finals, with the winner of each poll meeting in a final poll to see which charity would be used.

CARAS, Spires London, St George's Hospital Charity, Wandsworth Oasis, First Touch and Tooting Community Kitchen were the six selected, with the latter two meeting in the final poll, which Tooting Community Kitchen won by the slimmest of margins.

A tweet from Tooting Bec read : "The results are in…

"With over 550 votes cast, it came down to a 51%-49% split. It couldn't have been much closer.

"We're incredibly proud to announce that we will be donning the @TootComKitchen logo on our shirts for this season - congratulations!"

First Touch , a charity supporting sick and premature babies at St George's, tweeted Tooting Community Kitchen congratulating the organisation on winning the poll competition.

Tooting Community Kitchen responded, saying : "Thank you so many hard-working charities out here. This win is for all those we all help and support."

Tooting Bec FC plays in the Southern Counties East League Division One and share grounds with Tooting and Mitcham United, who play at Imperial Fields.
