Covid-19 cases in the borough are currently at a lower rate than the national average for London, England and the United Kingdom.

According to the latest available statistics (the week leading up to September 14), there were 593 cases in Wandsworth - 167 fewer than the week before September 8 to September 14.

This means there has been a 22 per cent decrease in the borough, with 179.8 people per every 100,000 having the virus as per the Gov.uk website.

Summerstown is the local area that has seen the biggest increase of cases , with 11 new positive tests taking its overall total to 20 (122.2 per cent increase). 255.3 people for every 100,000 have the virus in that area.

Most of the local areas have seen a decrease, although Tooting East, Colliers Wood and Streatham Central have risen by at least 10 cases each.

For large periods of the pandemic, Wandsworth Borough has found itself in a situation where it has had one of the worst rates within London. This has now changed, with the borough ranking as the ninth-lowest rate out of the 32 boroughs, and the second-lowest out of boroughs south of the river (only Southwark has a lower rate).

London currently has 17,119 confirmed cases at a rate of 190.2 people out of 100,000 having the virus. Since we last did a Covid-19 update on September 8 , there are now over 4,000 fewer people with the virus than then, when there were 21,492 confirmed cases.

In England, there are 146,616 who currently have confirmed cases of Covid, which is a rate of 259.3 per 100,000. The UK altogether has had 203,454 cases (more than 40,000 less than after our last update) with 303.3 people in every 100,000 having Covid-19 - higher than the English, London and Wandsworth rates.
