Covid-19 cases have dipped for the second week on the bounce in Tooting and its surrounding areas, the government's latest figures reveal.

As we reported last week , the number of cases had dropped by 13.6 per cent - and now it has got even lower.

While the last stats available for the area are as of September 2, there was still a dip in total cases.

In Wandsworth Borough, Covid-19 cases have dropped by 70 in the last seven days recorded (August 27 - September 2) , meaning the total number is down by 8.1 per cent.

Overall that leaves the borough with 796 cases, which means for every 100,000 people there are 241.4 cases of Covid-19.

Furzedown West is the local area that has seen the biggest increase of cases , with12 positive tests taking its overall total to 34 (54.5 per cent increase). 392.4 people for every 100,000 have the virus in that area.

Most of the local areas have seen a decrease, although Tooting East and Tooting West have had an increase of 10 and seven cases.

Previously, Wandsworth had been hit at a worse rate than the rest of the country, however, now there are fewer infections per 100,000 people than the rest of England.

Wandsworth still has more cases per person than the average in London, which is 238.7 per every 100,000 people. However, London has an average case rate that is far lower than any other region in England.

London currently has 21,492 confirmed cases.

In England, there are 179,284 who currently have confirmed cases covid. The UK altogether has had 248,272 cases (higher than last week by more than 10,000) with 370 people in every 100,000 having Covid-19 - higher than the English, London and Wandsworth rates.
