Tooting: Assault in Mitcham leaves man in hospital

An assault in Mitcham has caused a man to attend hospital with a head injury.

The incident occurred on Sunday (November 21) and police were called at around 1.35pm to reports of an assault in the Western Road area.

Upon the police's arrival, a man was found suffering a head injury before being taken to hospital.

A crime scene was in place after the incident and no arrests have yet been made.

The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via Twitter quoting reference CAD3653/21Nov.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police were called at approximately 13:35hrs on Sunday, 21 November following reports of a man assaulted in the vicinity of Western Road, Mitcham.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man, believed aged in his 30s, was found suffering a head injury. He has been taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"A crime scene remains in place.

"No arrests; enquiries into the circumstances continue.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD3653/21Nov.

"Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
