If you are thinking of popping into the McDonald's in Tooting or Balham for a walk-in takeaway - don't.

The fast food chain has announced that all its 1,300 restaurants across the country have been closed for walk-in takeaways.

The chain will remain open for delivery but customers will no longer be allowed inside stores to place orders, even if they are taking them out, following the announcement of the new national pandemic lockdown.

You may now see queues of Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat riders who can no longer wait inside the store for their orders.

A queue had formed outside Tooting Mcdonald's at midday today.

The company says it has taken this step while it reviews and reassesses safety procedures.
