A Balham resident has been shocked by the masses amount of support she has received for her new business.
Kimmy's Chutney Co, created by Kim Rowles, aims to deliver high-quality homemade chutneys to resident's doors.
The idea was originally born back in the first lockdown when Kim and her boyfriend would receive a box of organic vegetables from the popular subscription service Riverford every Wednesday.
Experimenting with different recipes, Kim would create chutneys, relishes and pickles with the leftover onions and other ingredients.
The love of creating these different condiments every week led to Kim creating her first two official flavours in October 2020.
Kimmy's Chutney Co is built off the message of hating food waste and passionate home cooking.
The two flavours currently available are Winter Spiced Plum & Apple Chutney and Spicy Chilli & Lime Chutney.
Kim Rowles told Nub News: "One of the things I love most about my small business is all of the amazing buyers and my followers that I have spoken to in the last few months.
"I want to keep my business predominantly direct to consumer for this reason, rather than only being able to purchase my products at retail and having little to no relationship with my consumers.
"An area that I have been and will be working with other businesses is partnering with cheese box deliveries, grazing companies and hamper companies."
'The response was quite a shock to be honest.'
Kim reached out to Balham Newsie who shared a post on their large social media profile which led to an influx of initial orders.
"The influx of orders was absolutely amazing, something which I did not expect at all," Kim said.
"Local residents have been so supportive, and perhaps launching in time for people to purchase Christmas gifts from small businesses helped that."
People living locally in SW17 and SW12 can place orders directly via Instagram or to [email protected] and receive free delivery.

Kim has already amassed rave reviews on her selling page, with one customer stating:
"So happy with my purchase from Kimmy. Great communication and customer service from Kimmy which further makes me want to support local, small and independent makers/businesses."
All of Kim's products are vegan, refined sugar free and 100% natural - making them a truly unique product.
Plenty more to come
Kim will be launching a range of new flavours in the upcoming weeks and working on providing gift boxes for people to purchase throughout the year.
"Who knows what the future will hold but I am very excited to see where my small business will take me," Kim told Nub News.
Launching a business in Balham
With such a close-knit community, Balham and surrounding areas seems like an amazing place to start up an independent business.
Kim said: "There is such a community feel in Balham and Tooting, and launching my small business and the amazing response from local residents has shown this even more for me.
"I am a huge coffee lover and Balham and Tooting have such a great selection of coffee shops, and brunch spots of course."
