A couple who decided to tie the knot in St George's Hospital have thanked the staff who organised their special day.

Patient Felix Mensah and his wife, Anna were married by Rev Chris van D'Arque, Head of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care.

Felix and Anna made their vows in front of a small congregation, including their two children and Felix's immediate family last month (23 Jan).

The just-wed couple said they were grateful to the staff who helped make their day so special.

Felix said: "Myself, Anna and our entire family would like to thank St George's Hospital and the chaplaincy team for their care and support during my stays in hospital and at home.

"I would like to say a special thank you to Rev Chris, Rev David Kwakye-Saka and healthcare chaplain Laura Hunt for organising our special wedding.

The catering team surprised the couple with a wedding cake and boxed buffet lunches for everyone attending.

"It was a lovely surprise," Anna said.

"I just don't know how to find the words to say thank you for all Rev Chris, Rev David and Laura have done for us.

"We are extremely grateful to St George's Hospital and the Chaplaincy team whose support has been comprehensive, holistic, professional and compassionate.

"Your commitment, encouragement and prayer towards Felix during his admission in hospital, and follow up on the phone when at home has really helped our family.

"We couldn't have had our wedding ceremony at this difficult time without the kind help of everyone at St George's.

Rev Chris van D'Arque said: "It was an honour to be a part of Felix and Anna's special day and we wish them all the love and happiness in their married life together."
