This years highly anticipated John Lewis and Waitrose Christmas advert features Tooting.

Inspired by the kindness of communities all around the country, the ad follows the theme of 'Give A Little Love'.

The TV advert was created by a number of different illustrators, animators and makers - blending together claymation, craft and drawings.

The advert depicts a 222 bus to Tooting and residents are ecstatic.

The bus was reportedly made by hand completely out of cardboard.

Labour MP for Tooting, Dr Allin-Khan, reacted to the advert saying:

"It's been a tough year for many, but our communities have shown us the power of coming together. It's more important than ever to spread love and hope."

The storyline

The story begins with a girl helping a boy to get his lost ball out of a try with an umbrella, which sparks a domino effect. The boy comes to the rescue of a melting snowman, who then replaces a tyre on a broken-down car whose passengers deliver a bag of Waitrose shopping. The recipient pulls a cracker with his lonely neighbour – a barber – who gives a boy an extra-special heart-shaped haircut - and so on.

Claire Pointon, Customer Manager at John Lewis said: "We wanted to inspire a generation with the thought that if we all simply give a little more love, the world will be a better place.

"Every year it's important for us to ensure we are mindful of the world in which we are living when it comes to our advertising.

"So it felt like the right thing to do to dedicate a moment we are most famous for to a really purpose-led initiative."

The Soundtrack

This year, BRIT Award winning Celeste provided her voice for the anticipated soundtrack.

She sang her version of 'Give A Little Love' and was inspired to write an original composition with songwriter Jamie Hartman.
