Pret A Manger has opened its doors to customers in Balham this morning.

The coffee and sandwich chain has replaced the former Santander on 200 Balham High Road and is now open for business.

Located near Balham tube and railway station, it will join a number of coffee shops near the station, such as Marcus Balham, AMT Coffee, The Apple Blue and other well-known chains like Costa Coffee and Cafe Nero.

Santander closed its doors back in June, and now Balham residents have a Pret A Manger, just in time for its Christmas menu.

There's been a mixed response on social media to the arrival of the new store.

One person on Twitter joked: "Today is the day that Balham hit peak Balham; Pret is here."

Another shared their frustration, saying: "Can't believe Balham finally getting a Pret the month after I move away."

While one person bemoaned another coffee shop being present, saying: "Could of put a much better shop at that site instead of yet another coffee shop! Just ridiculous!"

The store will be open from 6.30am until 6pm on a Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm on a Saturday and 7.30am until 5pm on a Sunday.
