Police appeal as two men are wanted after 40-year-old is assaulted, suffering 'serious injuries'

Merton Police want to speak to two men after a 40-year-old was assaulted and suffered 'serious injuries'.

The pair are wanted in relation to an incident of grievous bodily harm in Colliers Wood.

The incident occurred on Thursday July 1 at 12.30am, when a 40-year-old was walking from Colliers Wood train station along Christchurch Road before he was assaulted, suffering serious injuries.

Merton Police tweeted an appeal , asking for anyone to get in touch if they recognised either of the men in the photos.

It says: "We want to speak to these two males in relation to an incident of grievous bodily harm.

"If you know the identity of these males, or if seen, please call police on 999 in relation to CRIS 1407286/21.

"Male in black: FIMS ref 062625

"Male in grey: FIMS ref 062624".

A spokeswoman for the Met Police confirmed that the incident took place on July 1.

She said: "The incident occurred on Thursday 1st July at approximately 00:30 hours. A 40-year-old male was walking from Colliers Wood train station along Christchurch Road, SW19 when he was assaulted.

"The male suffered serious injuries amounting to grievous bodily harm."
