phs Group, a specialist in washroom, healthcare and floorcare hygiene, has responded to a claim that some of their workers were not wearing masks in St George's Hospital.
The hygiene company has revealed to Nub News that they have investigated and spoken to the individuals concerned in the claim.
Nub News spoke to the visitor at St George's Hospital who first made the claims on social media.
Steve J was waiting with his son who was due for surgery in the children's Jungle ward last week when they reportedly noticed some phs workers without adequate PPE.
"My son asked why they weren't wearing them, as everyone else was," Steve told Nub News.
"I think if these outside contractors cannot abide by rules then they should be thrown offsite and refused entry to the wards."
The phs workers were reportedly working amongst a busy crowd without anyone reminding them to wear their masks.
Colin Woodland, COO of phs Group told Nub News:
"Maintaining stringent hygiene protocols and adhering to COVID-19 regulations is of utmost importance to phs.
"We require staff to wear masks when carrying out their duties whether in hospitals, retailers or workplaces and even provide free masks to support this.
"We have investigated and spoke to the individuals concerned to address this matter and reminded all staff of the need to wear masks correctly."
