Male arrested in Furzedown and taken to hospital following dog bite

In the very early hours of yesterday morning (30th November) police attended an address in Furzedown in relation to a suspected burglary.

Officers arrived, and after a short foot chase by officers a dog arrived and assisted an area search.

One of the individuals was found hiding in a front garden.

The dog bit the male during his attempted escape. The male was subsequently arrested by PCs for attempted burglary, theft of pedal cycle and going equipped.

The male arrested was taken to hospital due to bite wounds.

The police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Some residents have taken to social media to praise the police dog in stopping the escape.

One resident said: "Give that dog an extra treat. Well done finding him."

Another resident said: "The dog deserves a great big juicy bone."
