Four Tooting women complete English Channel relay swim

After a year's worth of setbacks, covid-impacted training and fundraising, four local women have completed their attempts in swimming the English Channel.

They've managed to raise more than £10,000 in the process.

Fishponds to open throughout summer months

Fishponds playing fields will be opening from tomorrow onwards to the public.

While they won't be accessible 24/7, it will be open during most of the day - and there are plenty of activities that will be happening.

Permission granted for Parkrun to return to Tooting Common

Tooting Common Parkrun is nearing its return after it was given permission to restart.

While many across the country got going again on Saturday, they now have a race against the clock to get enough volunteers to start on the 31st.

Petition for permanent toilets on Tooting Common grows

A petition for permanent toilets on Tooting Common has grown beyond 500 signatures.

Councillor Stanislaus has started the permission, saying the current situation is unfair for people who are disabled and those who have young children.

However, despite the council saying they were looking into growing the number of temporary toilets, they reiterated how difficult it is to build such a structure.

Local residents say they 'don't care' despite high infection rates

A number of Balham residents admitted that they didn't care about the local area having one of the highest Covid infection rates in London.

One resident, 23, said that he believed that the media were making up the numbers. Another, aged 74, blamed the situation on "youngsters". Read more about their opinions from the link above.
