Fishponds playing fields will be opening to the public this summer, hosting a number of activities.

The playing fields, which are usually closed while sporting activities are not taking place, will be open from 10am until 6pm from this Monday (July 26) onwards.

There will be a number of activities available to the entire community across the summer.

There will be a multi-sport kids camp will be running every Tuesday and Thursday morning for under 11s from 10.30am to 11.30am, a Couch to 5k course, Zumba, Bootcamp and Teens Fitness Sessions, as well as a weekly led walk enjoying the playing fields and neighbouring area.

To celebrate the site and its importance to the community, there will be a Fishponds Community Fun Morning event running on Saturday August 7 from 10am until noon. This event, ran by Forever Fishponds and Enable, will hope to encourage local residents to learn more about what is going on over the summer on the field.

Councillor Steffi Sutters has backed the plans, telling people to keep an eye out for what's to come on the field.

She said: "We're delighted that the public will be able to access this open space over the summer and enjoy activities for people of all ages.

"There are further activities and classes planned so please do keep an eye on the Enable and EnableParks Twitter feeds for further information as our summer programme gets updated."

A full programme of activities at Fishponds will go live on the Enable website later this week, to be announced once the summer programme is finalised.
