Charities warn of no heat for low income households

Tooting Bec Lido to open early April

Good news for the keen swimmers out there, Tooting Bec Lido will open early April this year, rather than the usual time at the end of the month.

The pool is open throughout the year but usually only to the general public between April 30 and October 1.

Wandsworth Council hopes that the change will give local people more time to visit the lido and enjoy its facilities ahead of its £3m council-funded revamp later this year.

Throw a party for free this summer in Battersea

Wandsworth Council are scrapping fees for street parties held in honour of the platinum jubilee this summer.

The council has advised that organisers will need to complete an online form to apply for road closure and to fulfil the legal requirements.

Fees were also waived in 2018 when Prince Harry got married and a record number of 74 parties were held.

A murder investigation has been launched this week following a fatal fire on Monday January, 24.

A 46-year-old woman was found unresponsive inside the property and later pronounced dead at the scene.

A man aged 47-years-old and a male aged 17-years-old were arrested on Wednesday January, 26 on suspicion of murder.

Tooting home improvers dig deep for Macmillan cancer support

Home improvers and tradespeople in Tooting have dug deep to raise almost £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Leading decorating and DIY specialist Leyland SDM has handed over a bumper cheque for £111,683 to the charity after fundraising events across its 32 London stores.
