Huge queues have been forming outside of Tooting Primark today as residents flock to retail outlets that have been long-closed during lockdown.

The queue outside Primark curved round off Mitcham Road and down into Longmead Road.

In a statement, Primark CEO Paul Marchant said: "We have been working really hard to get our stores ready to open safely.

"We are fully stocked with everything our customers have been waiting for.

"We ask our customers to continue supporting us and be mindful of our in-store measures, in particular, if queuing outside and in-store."

Tooting's barbers, salons and pub gardens have also been packed out today.

Many residents have been struggling to get bookings at their favourite pub due to demand.
