A new pet shop specialising in raw meat and natural treats for dogs and cats has opened in Tooting Market, so Nub News went to sniff out what's in store for local residents with paws.

Owned and run by Molly Kaur and her partner Pav Gulati, Paws Pet Supplies is a treasure trove of treats and toys.

A few units in from the Tooting High Street entrance and nestled on the left, shelves are piled high with raw meat foods.

Hand-written notes displayed beside each item share nutritional benefits and truly eye-wateringly reasonable prices.

"Our motto is natural and affordable," Molly told Nub News, which everything in Paws Pet Supplies exudes at zero cost to quality.

Molly and Pav are both clearly passionate about providing pets with all the tools they need to thrive in life, and photographs around the shop show off the couple's own beloved pooch, 14-month-old "CEO" Nyla.

"His health and enrichment is our number one priority," said Molly, who like any doting dog parent was struck by how pet food available to buy on the high street was often highly-processed and just as highly-priced.

"We kept saying, 'Why is it costing so much to give Nyla a good life?'"

As clear to see as Molly and Pav's passion is their quantity of research and subsequent knowledge on the subject of natural, raw food.

For pet owners whose fur babies don't follow raw food diets but who are curious about the benefits, they give well-informed, helpful steers - from what snack to introduce a small-breed puppy who is new to raw food, through to the natural worming effect of a rabbit ear.

Importantly, they do so without ever preaching raw is the only right way to raise your dog or cat.

"There are so many options and we've found the natural, raw aspect is important for Nyla. But we would never want to impose that view on other dog parents," said Molly.

"We just want to make raw, natural food more affordable."

Of course, if feeding your fur baby a pig snout makes you squeamish, Paws stocks award-winning raw dog food brands Paleo Plus and Paleo Ridge alongside well-known natural brands Billy & Margot and Butcher's.
