A Wandsworth man has received eight months imprisonment after kicking an officer in the face and threatening to infect others with coronavirus.

Jed Straker, born 1998, of Cortis Road Wandsworth has been sentenced to 8 months custodial sentence for 3 cases of assault on an emergency worker

On the 25th March 2020 PCs Kelly, Grebot and Rosca-Grecu attended Straker's home address to conduct an arrest enquiry for an offence of Actual Bodily Harm which occurred on the 11th March 2021.

Upon arrest, Straker began to threaten officers that he will cough at them with the intention that they would catch coronavirus and die.

As officers approached to assist Straker to move from a bed, he became physically resistant by pulling away from officers, shouting and threatening to spit at officers.

To prevent being spat at officers handcuffed Straker and a spit hood was applied.

Straker continued to resist and had to be carried out by four officers.

During which time he has kicked out at PC Rosca-Grecu, who was holding onto his legs.

This struck PC Rosca-Grecu in the face below his left eye, leaving PC Rosca-Grecu with a broken tooth requiring a dental implant.

Straker was then put in leg restraints to prevent further harm and carried out to a police van.

On 26 March in custody Straker was charged with one count of assault on an emergency worker by beating in relation to the kick at PC Rosca-Grecu, and two counts of common assault on an emergency worker after threats to spit at officers during arrest.
