"You will be amazed at how quickly you can become a hero": The 20-year-old helping residents in lockdown
The community has been thanking a young resident for his kindness following his offer of collecting food and medication for those in quarantine.
William Howard, 20-years-old from the Lambeth borough, has reached out to residents around Lambeth and Wandsworth to see if they need help during lockdown.
With the virus still prominent in London and hospitals under strain - William wants to help the people who need it most.
William Howard told Nub News: "During these crazy and uncertain times which we find ourselves in, I feel its extremely important to maintain a strong community spirit and allow people isolating to feel less alone and to feel valued.
"The pandemic has brought home to me how much even the smallest gestures can make someone's day. It gives me immense satisfaction to see how much my support means to others and the difference it makes to them."
A post on social media sparked an outpour of gratitude from local residents.
William continued: "I've been receiving messages of unwavering gratitude and appreciation for my offerings.
"I feel overwhelmed by the amount of positive responses I have had in such a short space of time.
"It's incredibly liberating to see how my individual actions can have such a big impact on those around me. It has reinforced to me the importance of pulling together and making the fight against COVID-19 a collective effort."
William is encouraging people in the community to help others if they're able.
"Whether it's making a short phone call to someone isolating or delivering essential items, you will be amazed at how quickly you can become a hero."
