The redevelopment of the iconic Battersea Power Station is nearly complete, with lots of new things set to open on the site this year.

The Grade II*-listed building is due to open its doors to the public in Spring 2022, but there are several key milestones taking place ahead of the grand opening.

Next week, on April 12, TV favourite Gordon Ramsay will be opening his Street Pizza restaurant in Circus West Village, the first phase of the power station's development which opened in 2017.

Eager diners can purchase £15 bottomless sourdough pizza served by the slice so they can enjoy all of the restaurant's different toppings.

The Hell's Kitchen star said:

"For many years I would travel home to South London, after a late service, crossing the river in the shadows of those huge derelict chimneys, never did I imagine one day I would open a restaurant on such a historic site and become part of such a thriving community."

On the same day, a number of retailers in the area will be reopening their doors as coronavirus restrictions ease.

These include No.29 Power Station West, Megan's Battersea, Tapas Brindisa, Wright Brothers, Fiume, Battersea Brewery, Tonkotsu and Cinnamon Kitchen to name a few.

One of the most exciting milestones, however, will come later this spring, when the first residents move into the 253 apartments inside the Grade II* listed power station.

More than 100 retail shops, restaurants and cafes will also start to fit out their spaces later this year, while the tech giant Apple will take 500,000 sq. ft of office space across six floors in the power station for its new London campus.

To help people get to the area more easily, the Northern Line Extension will launch in the autumn.

This includes two new tube stations, called Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station, which will both be in Zone 1 and take people to the West End or the City in just 15 minutes.

In the coming months we can expect to hear the names of the other shops set to open their doors in the power station.

Currently we know the likes of Hugo Boss, MAC Cosmetics, Space NK, Watches of Switzerland and Jo Malone are planning to open there.

Then, once the power station opens to the public in Spring 2022, people can catch a lift inside the North West chimney to experience 360° panoramic views of the city.

The glass lift will be run by IMG and will allow visitors to travel up 109 metres.
