Watch this video from 1974 documenting Tooting and Balham Carnival.

The old footage was uploaded on Youtube by username 'horipet' in 2017.

In the description, they write: "Filmed with a Quarz 5 camera (standard 8mm). Clockwork, Russian made. You had to remember to wind it up between shots - but no batteries to buy or charge!

"Semi-auto exposure - you moved a needle in the viewfinder to the central position, using a lever under the exposure meter beneath the lens.

"I was far too fond of filming on the long end of the zoom - so lots of soft focus. Mercifully short, because filmstock was expensive!"
