Wandsworth's Wildlife Crime Officer and Tooting policeman yesterday seized an illegal monkey skin jacket.

PC Watford, Tooting Ward Policeman and Wandsworth's WCO, executed a warrant which led to the seizing of the illegal garment.

PC Watford said: "I executed a warrant and seized a monkey skin jacket illegally advertised and believed to be made from the skins of many Annex A, protected and endangered primates.

"Working with Met Wildlife Crime Unit to ensure this vile trade is halted."

One resident responded to the news: "Who on earth would ever want to wear such an awful garment?"

Another said: "What kind of person wears something so abominably cruel?"
