Tooting: Man rushed to hospital after being shot on Garratt Lane

A man in Tooting has been shot and rushed to hospital, police have confirmed.
At 1pm today (September 27), police were called to an incident on Garratt Lane where they found a man suffering from gunshot injuries in broad daylight.
A witness claims they heard 'three loud bangs' before an ambulance and a swarm of police cars arrived at the scene.
The incident occurred near The Gym in Tooting and Garratt Lane is now shut off between the junction of Fountain Road and Broadwater Road.
The London Ambulance Service has confirmed that they have treated the person at the scene and have taken them to a major trauma centre as a priority.
No arrests have yet been made.
Wandsworth Police statement
A spokesperson for Wandsworth Police said: "Officers were called at 12:59 on Mon 27/09 to Garratt Lane SW17.
"A man at the location was suffering from gunshot injuries and has been taken to hospital.
"His condition is not thought life threatening at this time. Enquiries continue and no arrests made."
London Ambulance Service statement
London Ambulance Service (LAS) have confirmed that the injured person has been taken to a major trauma centre.
A LAS spokesperson said: "We were called at 1pm today (27 September) to reports of a person injured on Fairlight Road, SW17.
"We sent an ambulance crew, a clinical team leader, and an incident response officer.
"We treated a person at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority."
Road closure
The road is currently shut in both directions from the top of Fountain Road to Bridgewater Road. Drivers have been recommended to find an alternative route.
Jambuster, a traffic application, says: "[A217] Garratt Lane (SW17) (All Directions) at the junction of Fountain Road and Broadwater Road - The road is closed due to a police Incident
"Expect delays and use alternative routes."
What a witness has said
Suswati Basu, a local resident, has been tweeting about the incident.
Suswati claims that she heard three bangs which she assumed were either a car backfiring or shots. She also says that the ambulance and police have left but the road is still shut.
The Tooting resident also pictured police knocking on doors on Fairlight Road after the incident.
Suswati has recently tweeted that she is "a bit shaken up" and has taken a few hours off social media as "down time".
