A Tooting man who kidnapped and raped a 13-year-old girl on her way to school has pleaded guilty.

The 13-year-old was walking through Mitcham when Kadian Nelson approached her from behind and covered her mouth and head with his hands.

Nelson forced the girl to take off her jacket and school blazer before proceeding to orally rape her.

Kadian Nelson, 27, was caught on camera walking with the 13-year-old by passersby which caused him to flee.

The video quickly went viral and anger online caused groups of angry residents to go on a 'hunt' for Nelson.

Local vigilinate groups were previously urged to go home by South West London police.

Det Supt Owain Richards previously said:

"I am appealing directly to Kadian to attend his nearest police station immediately, or to call police and inform us as to his whereabouts. This is for his safety, as well as members of the public.

"I recognise that this is a shocking and distressing incident and emotions locally are running very high.

"We are of course aware of videos and images circulating on social media, and of groups of people attending various addresses.

"I urge those people to go home. Do not try to take the law into your own hands or you may end up doing something you regret and potentially face police action yourself."

Kadian Nelson will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on August 13.

According to the Daily Mail, Senior Prosecutor Kate Shilton, said:

"This was a terrifying stranger attack on a young girl on her way to school.

"'The prosecution was able to present compelling evidence that made clear that it was Kadian Nelson who had carried out this sickening attack.

"The prosecution case included video footage and DNA evidence from the lighter and tobacco pouch found inside Nelson's jacket pocket, which he left behind.

"The victim was also able to identify him in an ID parade. These guilty pleas will mean that Nelson's young victim will be spared the ordeal of giving evidence in court.

"I would like to thank the members of the family who saw what happened and took quick action in alerting the police to the incident.

"The young victim has shown remarkable courage during these proceedings and I hope this conviction will go some way to providing her with closure.

"Sexual offences are some of the most serious and complex cases to prosecute. The CPS is committed to bringing sexual offenders to justice where there is the evidence to do so."
