BYO, situated in Tooting Market, encourages customers to reuse their packaging and to say no to single use plastics.
In light of recycling week and the Global Day of Climate Action taking place tomorrow (25th) - we took a trip inside Tooting's eco-store to explore its very different take on shopping.
'Reduce plastic - waste less.'
Small in size but stocked to the brim with products - BYO offers essential foods, detergents and treats.
Laid out like a 'pick'n'mix' station - food and other products are lined up and labelled in separate dispenser jars and bottles.
The shop is proud to provide a similar price range to supermarkets for most products.
BYO says it is a common misconception that shopping this way is more expensive.
Jo Pike, assistant manager at BYO, told Nub News:
"We're all about helping the environment by encouraging low waste.
"A lot of our customers are regulars here but we have a lot of new people coming in every day."
The store was previously forced to shut when the Market closed following coronavirus regulations.
During the stores closure, owner Tanya carried out deliveries to customers who needed essential supplies.
Since reopening back in June business has slowly got back to normality.
"It was really quiet when we reopened," Jo continued.
"We are now starting to see increased footfall in the shop and market again."
BYO has recently increased its opening hours from three days a week to five.
