Residents have been speaking out after a photo was posted on social media yesterday (13 Jan) showing a 'shower of empty coffee cups' across Tooting Common.

The original poster of the photo said they saw at least thirty coffee cups around Emmanuel Road and dotted around the Common.

Some have residents have suggested that the litter could be from foxes getting into a nearby bin.

Others say this is a common occurrence and are calling for residents to take more care with their litter.

The council has been called by many to address the issue as many feel the bins in the Common are too small for the foot fall.

One resident said: I do think the bins are incredibly small on the Tooting Commons and aren't cleared regularly, this is something the council needs to address."

Another resident wrote: "Take them home! When you buy the coffee you buy the cup. How hard can it be to carry it empty?

"The same goes for all the picnic refuse. It's heavier on the way to the picnic, how hard can it be to take it away."

Wandsworth Council has been contacted for comment.
