Pancake Day falls on Tuesday March 1

Pancake Day is upon us once again this Tuesday March 1.

Originating in the Christian tradition, Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day), falls the day before Ash Wednesday.

It is a feast day before the traditional fasting over the Lent period prior to Easter.

Over the years though it has become a day for pancakes whether you're religious or not.

So we've lined up the best places to get your sweet treats this Pancake Day.

Nata's Coffee Bar

Okay so this one isn't technically a pancake, it's a waffle but they're made from the same thing.

This popular local haven serves up some exciting variations of the sweet breakfast treat including a fried chicken version or their famous breakfast waffle which includes two free range fried eggs, two slices of bacon and maple syrup.

This independent coffee bar on Balham High Street serves organic coffee to help wash down your waffles.

Location: 19 Balham High Rd, London SW12 9AL

Cafe Olé

Pop into this busy cafe in the heart of Tooting for a warm welcome and delicious food.

Pancakes are a popular choice amongst their customers and for good reason.

There are three pancake stack choices, one with smoked back bacon and maple syrup, caramelised banana and fresh berries or maple syrup and greek yogurt all for £7.95.

Located: 96 Mitcham Rd, London SW17 9NG

Heart of Balham

This is the perfect spot for vegans and meat eaters a like, with something for everyone.

Enjoy their vegan pancakes with seasonal berries, homemade orange cinnamon syrup and toasted almonds or buttermilk pancakes with scrambled eggs, grilled sausages, streaky bacon, potatoes and their homemade syrup.

Or try something new with their msemen pancakes, a moroccan dish served with jam, honey, Nutella and labneh.

Located: 113 Balham High Rd, London SW12 9AP
