To coincide with St George's Day, St George's Hospital has today released a short film marking the efforts of staff and local people over the past 12 months.

Covid-19 has had a massive impact on the hospital, and Tooting's communities and surrounding areas.

The film features clinical and non-clinical staff (including Teareen, intensive care nurse, pictured) talking about the highs and lows of the past year.

Staff also talk in the film about the incredible support we've received from local people and charities – for which we will always be incredibly grateful.

Speaking in the film, Jacqueline Totterdell, Chief Executive, says:

"I have a huge amount of pride in all 9,500 people within this organisation.

"They have been, every single of them, outstanding. The last year for the hospital has been difficult, enlightening, hideous, revolutionary, all of those things. And I think it's changed our organisation forever."

Amerjit Chohan, Chief Executive of St George's Hospital Charity, also features in the film, and says:

"When you work in an environment like a hospital what you see is a huge amount of commitment, and the staff here went well above and beyond their role.

"One thing I've learned from the last year is that there is a huge amount of generosity in this country."
