Tooting's gem, The Selkirk, has been recognised for its worth as South London's most loved pub in Time Out's Love Local awards.

The awards list everything from beloved boozers to favourite cafes.

The awards are given to the places that Londoners love the most.

In this year's Love London Awards there were over 100,000 votes for people's favourite restaurants, bars, cafes, music venues, galleries, shops and theatres.

Time Out said about The Selkirk: "There are some pubs where you get a pint of warm ale and a bag of pork scratchings and that's your lot.

"But The Selkirk does things differently.

"From a seasonal menu made with high-quality ingredients to a function room that hosts weddings and birthdays, to pub quizzes and board games, to cracking Sunday roasts, this place has all bases covered.

"In fact, if you like the idea of WFP (working from pub), it welcomes punters to use the space as their very own office on weekdays, with bottomless coffee, decent wi-fi and even use of their printer."

But we're pretty sure no one needed Time Out to give the pub an award to know what a Tooting treasure it is.

The Selkirk took to their Instagram to thank everyone, writing: "So this happened.

"If you pick up a copy of Timeout today [Wednesday January, 19] you'll see we won South Londons most loved pub or bar.

"A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us, you are all awesome.

"After such a tough year this is a great way to start 2022. The team work so hard to get things right every day and are humbled that people took the the time to vote and help us take such an amazing award.

"Looking forward to a great quiz tonight and dry January starts again tomorrow."
