A Tooting resident has said she's received 'overwhelming' support from the community after a mystery male ransacked her bins yesterday evening.

Sharon Pourou, Gassiot Road, was shocked to see a man going through her rubbish that she had put out ready for the bin men Monday morning.

At 5pm Sharon describes trying to speak to the man and seeing him walk away quickly with something in his hand.

Sharon's bins were left torn apart and litter had spilled on to her driveway.

"I had never seen him before," Sharon told Nub News.

The man is described as wearing 'work clothes and a grey rucksack'.

After posting an image of the torn bins on social media - the community has rallied round Sharon.

Sharon said: "The response from the community has been so overwhelming.

"Neighbours came out to help me clean my garden and the Tooting site has been so helpful with ideas and tips and advice.

"I think people need to be more aware that this happens."
